Smothered & Covered - The Way of the Waffle
10 southern states, 10 Waffle Houses in each state, 100 graveyard shifts, in 10 months.
A photographic journey of the subculture of the people who work the graveyard shift, and the people they serve between midnight and 6AM.
Waffle House is an amazing southern institution, with over 1000 yellow and glass locations throughout the south, in major cities and small towns,they are all open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, they never close. Waffle house caters to everyone, celebrities and homeless, late night drunks, and early morning grandparents.
Starting in Florida I will work my north, photographing 10 locations in the following states, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas. I will pick major cities and small towns.
I am going to capture the essence, and the stories of employees and customers in both black and white, and color images.
I look forward to capturing the true essence of this institution, the subculture of it's employee's, drinking a lot of coffee, and over tipping the servers, all over the south.

I had already voted for this before I even submitted my dream LOL. I moved back to NH after living 9 years in FL and I MISS WAFFLE HOUSE LOL!!! Scattered, smothered and covered ROCK!
