The Living Tree
To photograph trees around the world in their (sometimes) native habitat to capture how they live among us and how we live among them.
I've been fascinated with trees for as long as I can remember. They embody a spirit that is similar to the human one. When I see a great tree, I always wonder what it has lived through from its days as a seed to a sapling to a giant wonder.
Trees can provide shade, fun and sometimes humility. I want to capture trees around that world that have become in some way a part of the people that surround it. Children playing on tire swings in New Orleans, imported trees in Los Angeles that line the pavements only to be ignored by passersby, trees providing shade and life in the largest manmade forest - Johannesburg, the harmony and balance of the trees in the Amazon Rainforest provide to various forms of life.
These are just some of the ideas I'd like to capture if given the opportunity to pursue this dream.

Hi all! Thank you so much for voting for me. It means so much more than you know. Please leave a note so I know who to thank!
I forgot to include in the description that this is partially inspired by Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree."
I just love all of Shel's poems. Partly from all the nights reading them while putting my son to bed. Solid idea (and similar to mine, taking one concept and exploring it at various places around the globe). Good luck to you, you've got my pic.
Thanks for your vote, I will check out your Flickr! You got mine!
This is a great Idea! Check mine out too and if you like it...return the vote! Mine is about exposing a fatal conflict taking place in the Congo.
Without no oxygen! I can't wait to see your photos - Wonderful idea & great dream! Best of luck and you have my "PIC" - please check out my dream of furthering peaceful coexistence between Jews and Arabs in the Middle East. Thanks!!
