Global Coalitions: Great Ideas That Work!
Our global communities are facing daunting issues but rather than focus on the bad, my work will be devoted to capturing the solutions; the great ideas that work so that we may share our ideas globally and be the change so badly needed.
Having volunteered for and/or directed non-profits throughout my life, seeing the great ideas that come out of coalitions of groups & people working together, being a former caterer & restaurant owner and being an amateur photographer with a life-long dream of capturing a photo essay that could benefit many in the world, I envision all my skills, knowledge and dreams coming together through this photo-journalistic project.
My pre-planning, research, contacts with organizations, micro-lenders, foundations, etc. and blogging would start/have started, prior to the journey and will include questions to my blogs readers re: great ideas/solutions, people & organizations solving problems, coalitions of people/foundations/organizations/ businesses/resources already working together and innovative thinking they’ve witnessed. I want to seek out those countries and communities that are building schools instead of prisons, building and achieving sustainable goals in economic growth, housing of disenfranchised, education, health, environment, energy, peace, medicine, technology, taking care of vets and seniors, feeding the worlds’ populations, etc. The world is my canvass. Along the way, I want to network people/ideas and will maintain databases and blog/submit photos to their/my local and International media to help those programs market themselves and enlighten the readers regularly. I will maintain a website and post upcoming schedules, maps and photos of my journey, contact info for all I work with along the way and will host occasional live chats so there can be an on-going, interactive and educational discussion of all that is discovered.
Breaking bread with others is also an important aspect in creating community and is often the time when great ideas are born. The secondary mission of my journey is to collect recipes and photograph the ways/means meals are prepared and enjoyed wherever I travel. I am persevering, enthusiastic, a great investigator and up for traveling to the tiniest of villages or the largest of cities. My dream in all this is to compile the photos, experiences, stories, recipes, etc. into books, cookbooks, DVD’s, etc. that will be published to raise awareness and funding for great ideas that work through the sales of those products and to share our solutions and recipes that give us comfort and make us proud, globally.
