Like a Phoenix
To document to ravages of the bush fires, and the renewal of life afterwards.
To capture what happens to those living there, the wildlife, the people, the plants. During and after.
To see the heartbreak, loss, hope, and determination of life in Australia.
Can you imagine what it must be like to hear fire roaring over your home as you huddle in terror with your children? Or to have the roads cut off from you, leaving you stranded and unable to return home? The determination to continue to live in areas historically known to have major bush fires, and the hope that t will never hit you personally...
I'd like to document what happens during these seasonal fires, and what happens afterwards. How do the families continue? How does the wild life cope? What is it like to be right there, surrounded and still determined to live it through? The heartbreak of losing a loved one, a home, a way of life. The hope of seeing life continue after the fires, the regrowth of plants and return of wildlife.
This is what I dream of.
