Pregnancy and Poverty
with a swollen belly and nothing to eat, she is ignored by western powers and prays that her child will see a better tomorrow. through photos, i will tell her tale.
Her eyes are the window to her soul
They show no pain,
Only hope that her child will live a life better than hers
Her stomach is void of food and nourishment
Yet full of life
Her story is one that is greatly ignored
She is the forgotten
She is the poor
She is the pregnant
Giver of life
I want to tell her tale.
Their tales.
Everyday we turn on the news and hear about the economic decline of the western countries; something new that many of us have never experienced.
In Africa, South America, Asia, India, and many other developing areas, there are women, pregnant women who deal with the reality of a depressed economy day in and day out. And the fact of the matter is many of them will never know anything else. This is what they have known their whole lives and possibly what the little one in their stomach will know. Mothers are the face of human existence and I am interested in capturing the beauty of pregnant mothers in developing nations.
