The People Behind Education in America

Much has been said and reported about the state of education in America. Funding, testing, and infrastructure make headlines, but what about the people who are in the trenches?

I would like to document the human element at the core of education in America: the children, the teachers, and the parents. Without these stakeholders, no amount of funding or testing would make a difference. I would travel to different regions of the country and put a human face on the discussion about education in America.

Jason, I believe that parents make school and students better. Teachers are next and then facilities. I believe you can find some very interesting contrasts as you pursue your adventure. I wish you good luck and I hope my vote sends you off and running.

YEAH!!! BTW I love your idea as a parent and a teacher, I didn't vote for you just because you are my friend!

I think you should take a look at Waldorf education as well. Alternative education, Waldorf specifically, is the antidote to what is happening in the public school system. Katherine

Interesting idea, check out mine and vote for me if you like it. Its about poverty and society in 3rd world countries and how they are controlled, devastated by their governments and western industrialized nations. http://tinyurl.com/chy79g

I voted for you and can attest to the significance parent involvement can make in a school, going to a school with so many parents able to help out, get involved. It's complicated but for sure I do believe all problems should be solved with the human element in mind as well.

I'd like to see the contrast between the poor and wealthy schools. This past weekend I was the elementary school in Ross, CA which is one of the richest zip codes in the country. They are remodeling the school and the 'temporary' classrooms are nicer than the permanent classrooms at most schools.
