Drawing the Perimeter of the United States
My dream is to drive around the perimeter of the contiguous 48 United States and capture the essence of American life through the lens of my camera.
My dream is to circle the contiguous 48 states of the U.S., documenting the journey and the beauty of this country on camera as I go.
I am proposing a trip around the perimeter of the United States, starting and ending in Los Angeles. It will be a simple journey filled with the sights and sounds of a simpler and less complicated America. It will include visits to historical landmarks and national parks, calling to mind the foundation of what exists. It will feature visits to undiscovered areas around the country filled with color and vitality, calling to mind the present that continues to be. It will include conversations with people from a variety of places, calling to mind the promise of the future.
It is a critical time in the history of America. It is a time flavored by great hope and tarnished by great fear. With the election of our first African-American President, we have experienced the fulfillment of a promise like never before. With an economic crisis and two wars, we are experiencing a tremendous sense of doubt and uncertainty as a people.
Despite turmoil and the unknown, there is no doubt that the things that make this country great will remain, flourish and thrive. It is the landscapes and the history and the people who bring simplicity and life to these times.
In essence, I want to capture the spirit of the American people and the America that holds such great hope for the future.
