Trailing Lewis & Clark
A modern-day mom of three sets out on a journey to photograph the sites along what would have been the route Lewis and Clark took during their expedition more than 200 years ago.
I would depart in Illinois and head west to Oregon, stopping along the way often to photograph nature, the people and the scenes of the journey, especially along the waterways. My goal is to capture nature along this route to show not only how it's changed, but also how it has remained much the same. The goal would be to find the hidden gems, the untouched forests, the clean streams, the wildlife, the remaining families of Native Americans who at one time helped the famous duo survive and accomplish their amazing feat. I have thought of this a lot since visiting the Fort Clatsop area in Astoria, Oregon, a couple years ago. The area is breathtaking now, as I'm sure it was then. I would like to print the entire series in black and white.

Great idea at a time when we need to take a fresh look at the people and land of our nation.
