Documenting the spirit of the rapidly shrinking cultures

My dream assignment would be to document the disappearing cultures that reside along the Pan- American Highway, a network of roads nearly 48,000 kilometers (29,800 miles) in total length that stretch from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, in North America to the lower reaches of South America.
The Pan-American Highway passes through many diverse climates and ecological types, from dense jungles to cold mountain passes. Since the highway passes through many countries, it is possible to capture the spirit of these places through images of the ordinary inhabitants.

This world is full of self-proclaimed photojournalists, but Jim Bryant captures the essence of humans. His work goes beyond capturing the light, angle and overall composition - he somehow gathers spirit and vitality in every shot he gathers.

Good ideas like yours that are not in the Top 100 are nearly impossible to find. This is unfair as many great ideas are hidden. Life only happens once, and you know as much as anyone that entire cultures and ways of life are disappearing everyday. My best wishes that you will be able to complete this assignment, and give a voice to those who otherwise would not have one.

Our world is changing fast; new technologies, disappearing wildlife, and vanishing cultures absorbed into the "mainstream." 50 yrs. ago on TV there were 16mm films of tribes that were having their first contact with the outside world. This is important to be doucmented.
