Disappearing sharks
Sharks are disappearing. Rapidly. The absolute annihilation of these incredible and utterly crucial animals is at hand - by human hands.
I am a divemaster and shark photographer. (I shoot other things too, underwater and on land, but sharks are my favorite things...).
My photos have already garnered some attention worldwide, and I've been trying to travel as much as possible to see and swim with various species, wherever they can be found. I've been doing what I can to help these wonderful animals in the face of absolute slaughter by humans, but as one of the typical "working chumps" of the world I have to do what I can from behind a desk every day. And every day more of the oceans' abundance is gone FOREVER - especially in the way of these incredibly important and beautiful creatures.
My Dream Assignment: to go see each of the remaining areas where sharks are active or thriving, as well as all the hotspots of illegal and utterly immoral poaching and wholesale slaughter.
People don't fully realize: when the predators go, so goes the ecosystem; when the oceanic ecosystem goes, so goes all of OUR water, air, food, etc. Photos have proven to be very powerful in waking people up to the unseen world around them, and I very badly want to build on the attention my own work has been getting in the name of these increasingly rare creatures.

The clock is ticking and we are a few minutes from midnight. To recognize that other living creatures share this world with us may be the most important mission of humanity. Pterantula's photos are beautiful art and create a powerful awareness of the importance of sharks to our ecosystem.

This is a great Idea! Check mine out too and if you like it...return the vote! Mine is about exposing a fatal conflict taking place in the Congo.
Good ideas like yours that are not in the Top 100 are nearly impossible to find. This is unfair as many great ideas are hidden. Those of us in the “Sub-100” should work together to promote the best projects of the Sub-100 so that they can be in the Top 100 and be seen. Please vote for best Sub-100s!
