Viva Venezia
Venice was once a republic to be reckoned with, but now it's a small city struggling to stay afloat in the modern world. Literally. So, while Venice is still standing, I'd like to chart all of her former outposts, from Crete to Croatia.
I've long dreamed of taking on such a project, and after viewing Francesco da Mosto's Mediterranean Voyage - a BBC-sponsored journey by sail boat to a selection of the remaining old outposts of the Venetian Republic - I am more excited and inspired than ever.
For this project, I'd like to revisit Venice (which I've visited and photographed several times), parts of Slovenia and Croatia and Montenegro (Rovinj, Kotor, etc.), the Greek Islands (Naxos, Crete, etc.).
I love the city and idea of Venice deeply - because more than a city, it a place that has captivated the world with the mere idea of it - and would love to create a visual record of this vast and once all-powerful republic for posterity.

I love Venice, so anytime somebody wants to photograph it I'm a big fan. I voted for another Venice project as well. It's a shame that the city is slowly falling apart.

It's wonderful that Risamay wants to document not only Venice but the former Venetian Republic. If this project were a book, I'd buy it.

Good ideas like yours that are not in the Top 100 are nearly impossible to find. This is unfair as many great ideas are hidden. Those of us in the “Sub-100” should work together to promote the best projects of the Sub-100 so that they can be in the Top 100 and be seen. Please vote for best Sub-100s!
