Changes in Latitudes: Photo-chronicling the world by navigating up the globe six degrees at a time.
Starting at the southern tip of civilization, I will begin my epic photo-journey north stopping at every 6° change in latitude along the way to capture local images and also to identify a common link between each six degrees of separation.
Six Degrees of Separation:
The island of Tierra del Fuego, located on the southernmost tip of South America, is known as the uttermost ends of the earth. From here, at what some describe as the end of civilization, I will begin my Dream Assignment. Starting at latitude 54° south I will begin my journey heading north across multiple countries, oceans, and cultures. I will crisscross various longitudes both east and west, but I will always travel in a northward direction with my next destination equal to a distance separated by exactly 6° latitude. At each stop along the way I will photograph a local image and identify an interesting fact linking that current destination with my most recent stop. I will traverse the globe in 66 days to reach my 19th and final destination on the coast of Ireland at latitude 54°north. This Dream Assignment will illustrate that within a latitude range of 6°, no matter how varied the terrain or culture may appear, one can always find a common bond!
