Palestine/Israel: Piercing the Fog of Media Distortion
My dream assignment would be to document and interview the people of the Middle East, focusing primarily on the people of Israel and Palestine.
The media in the western world never dare pierce the fog of the Middle East. Really being able to understand its people and the conflict that all of them must go through on a daily basis is something that should be highlighted to the world at large.
All of our money, technology is all for not if we let our brothers and sisters abroad suffer "out of sight, out of mind."
Therefore, my goal would be to document daily life in Israel/Palestine using both still and video capabilities on the Canon 5D Mark II: Directing attention upon the daily life of a normal person living in Gaza and the hardships present due to an ancient conflict.
Both capturing candid daily life stills/video and also interviewing ordinary people in varying walks of life would allow me to open a window to the outside world of what truly goes on. I would utilize the blog to post daily or almost daily recaps with video/stills so people can view the life in real time or come back later to view it on a "time line".
Using these methods I would hope I could connect the people of Israel/Palestine with the people of the western world and from such a connection, would grow understanding, and from understanding would grow caring.
Any money that is not used directly on the assignment would be donated to a local Israel/Palestine peace charity.
Being a catalyst for change is my ultimate dream, beyond the money, beyond the laptop, and beyond the selfish needs of one person to be significant, this part of the world deserves to find a lasting peace so the rest of the world may know the same.
