ADDICTION: Power/Money/Sex/Drugs
ADDICTION: a state of physiological or psychological dependence on something. There are addictions everywhere we look, good and bad. What I want to do is to focus in on the bad ones.
My dream assignment is a very special one to me. It is not a new idea, but one that has been hanging on with desperation to be accomplished. ADDICTION: a state of physiological or psychological dependence on something. There are addictions everywhere we look, good and bad. What I want to do is to focus in on the bad ones. For educational and pleasurable reading, I wish to create a book series titled ADDICTION. Within the series, there will be an in depth view on power, money, sex, and drugs.
Addictions are like a shadow on a cloudy day, you may never see them. This could bring forth attention on all the aspects of these problematic addictions. For example, power; power can be determined by the amount of cows you own in Africa, or the amount of money or political pull you have in America. I want to bring global recognition on the contrast of addictions between different countries.
This drive of trying to educate people on this topic comes from seeing too many people fall down the wrong path. I believe that knowledge is the key to prevention. If I were to take the prize in this competition, I would use the money to go far and wide to capture the necessary images for the series and use the rest of the money for publishing. After release of the series I would ambitiously donate the proceedings to Action on Addiction. Action on Addiction is a charity which provides education, intervention, and research on addictions.

Those are great photos and a great idea for this contest! I love the focus on the hand and the blurred background (using a 2.8 f-stop and telephoto lens?) You certainly deserve support, so I will give you the one vote they allow me to give you. Good luck!
